"Anvil is a great place to stay while visiting Williamsburg. We love the location and how it's close to everything! A huge perk to the campground is how it sets off the main road so you get that off the beaten path feel, but are super close to anything you could need! The staff there is amazing. Everyone is super friendly, the sites are perfectly set up and the cleanliness of the campground is unmatched by any other! By the way, the trains aren't so bad! Once the first one runs down the track you barely notice any others. This is a must stay when you're in the area"

"My wife and I have stayed twice and will do so again. Very friendly, knowledgeable about the area, they have a shuttle that will take you to bush gardens,and all of the historical places, and shopping. There is a train track close by but my wife and I have fun with it. I put coins on the track and have the train run over them for lucky coins. We have a 43' coach and have enough room to get around. They have a pool, playground , a general store, an arcade and cabins to stay in. They also allow pets."

"We traveled from Pennsylvania to visit the historical town and chose this campground for the location and the shuttle transportation. We arrived very late due to a snow storm and found our information packet on a placard by the office front door. The campground was very accommodating for large RV's and I had no problems identifying the site or maneuvering the RV through the park or into the site. The hookups are well lit and identified and aided in hooking up in the snow. The staff was very polite and friendly and the camp store was suitably stocked and immaculately clean. The bathrooms, which have become one of our biggest concerns at campgrounds, were very clean and the showers had more than enough hot water and suitable water pressure to shower comfortably. The train tracks run very close to the campground but the trains did not bother us at night. The children and I found the different trains entertaining and fascinating during the day. There was a shuttle bus stop right at the campground that was extremely convenient and prompt during our stay. The shuttle driver was very polite and offered advice on touring the area and guidance on the use of the public transportation in the area. ...The other sites both pull through and back-in were all well maintained and sufficiently separated from the dump station. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Anvil Campground and were more than pleased with the management, maintenance, location, and the facilities. We plan to return again to this quaint campground in the next few years."

"We have stayed at this campground many times and have never been disappointed. Everything about the campground is first class and while we have looked at the other campgrounds in the general area we have always returned to Anvil. The location of the campground is perfect, it is close to the Outlets and Colonial Williamsburg and just a short drive to Newport News. There are also several restaurants close by. There are train tracks at the back of the campground but the noise is not too noticeable. All of the sites are well maintained and are easy to get in to."

A little handmade Gift to add to you refurbished Office and Store. You were so helpful when we had problems with our “macerator” sanitary system, which as of this …is “Toast” as the RV dealer quoted. But we can still use the system the regular way.
Hope you enjoy your personalized handcrafted Quilt. Quilting is my favorite pastime and gives me joy to present it to you.
My friend and I are heading to one of the largest quilt shows in Paducah, Kentucky. in April.
We will be back soon to stay and revisit historical Williamsburg soon and camp with you again.

"We stayed at Anvil Campground from Nov 18, thru Dec 3, 2012 (15 days). The directions to the campground were clear and easy to follow. The office staff was friendly and very helpful. They provided us with information on the sights to see in the area and directions on how to get around. It is a pleasant clean and easy to get to campground. When we go back to that area we will definitely stay there again.

"We stayed at Anvil in 2010 and 2011 in October. The amenities are as described, the area is clean, the staff is helpful and cheerful. Yes, there is a train. NO, it was not all that bothersome. In fact,both my husband and I slept very well every night. I was injured the first trip and the staff was superb in their help. We had to leave early and they cheerfully refunded our money. The location is second to none. No car? No problem - the bus stops at the campground! Need info? they have it! Need tickets? They sell them. I would highly recommend Anvil to anyone visiting the Williamsburg area. i would definitely stay there again. We camped in a motorhome."

"We enjoyed this campground because of the friendly service, the cleanliness, and the location. As full-timers, we stay here in the spring and the fall for a month each to visit our family and the historic sights. There are trains, but we do not find them intrusive--we enjoy hearing and seeing them. The laundry room and restrooms are kept clean and in good working order. If a camper needs any help with hooking up or leveling or information, the staff is readily available and willing to help. The sites are a little tight, but adequate. There is a little road noise, but no more than in many place. Good place to stay... We camped here in a Fifth Wheel."

"We traveled to Williamsburg in a large motorhome from California. We found the park to be very clean and orderly. The park is centrally located making it very easy to visit all the nearby attractions and is also close to shopping and many restaurants. There is a train that runs adjacent to the park but my husband and I did not find it bothersome. What made our stay here extra special was the staff, in particular BERNICE. She greeted us upon our arrival and throughout our stay gave us valuable information about the city, surrounding activities and festivals, etc. We would not have gone to the Daffodil Festival in Gloucester if not for her and we had a full day of fun there. We are full time travelers and will definitely return to Anvil Campground on our next trip around the US! Jennie/Joe."
